Ten Ways to Tell if you are an Extra Sensitive Person
It wasn't until I was back in the quiet of my own house that I felt the drain of energy. I had been at a very pleasant party, and didn't exert any "out of the ordinary" energy. But as soon as I returned to my own environment I felt it. I was exhausted, tired beyond measure, like I could go to bed and sleep for a week. And it was only 9:00 p.m.! It was in that moment I finally accepted that I am one of those extra sensitive people (ESP) that I so often work with in my practice. If you have ever felt the type of energy drain that I did, simply from being in a crowded room, you too may be an extra sensitive person. Here are some other clues that your sensitivity may be getting the best of you.
1. You go through phases of crying or being defensive at the drop of a hat.
2. You experience unexplained mood swings, especially after being around others.
3. Your friends tell you that you're very intuitive.
4. You will often lose yourself in a good book, tv, video game or some other solitary behavior.
5. You insulate yourself from your feelings with food, alcohol or any of the above behaviors.
6. You are easily overwhelmed when you are presented with a lot of information at once.
7. You have unexplained aches and pains or health issues.
8. You are most comfortable in serene soothing surroundings. Loud or harsh environments are like poison to you.
9. You get overwhelmed when think about the pain and suffering in the world.
10. You will often pick up on the needs of others and help them before they even ask.
There are many gifts which come with being an ESP. Unfortunately your own sensitivity may be getting in the way of realizing them. If you saw yourself in this list, it is most important for you to first accept your sensitivity and then take healthy measures to take care of yourself. Start with the basics, plenty of rest, hydration, healthy food, and exercise to ground you. Self reflection is a must, and a good self-care plan will help you get a handle on your extra sensitivity so that you can eventually come to enjoy it.
